Nigerian authorities have intercepted two containers with thousands of cannabis products in the port of Lagos. Many of the packages bear the well-known Cookies logo, but it is unclear whether they are actually products from the American cannabis brand.
According to reports regarding the discovery, the two 40-foot containers originated from the United States and were intercepted at Tin Can Island Port. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) subsequently handed the goods over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Gummies, pre-rolls and edibles
Thousands of cannabis products were reportedly found in the containers. Footage shows, among other things, packaging with the text Cookies Delta 8 GummiesCannabis edibles, gummies, and pre-rolls were also reportedly among the goods.
The total street value is estimated in reports at approximately 373,8 million Nigerian naira.
The use of the Cookies branding is particularly striking. However, this does not automatically mean that the products were actually produced by Cookies. Without confirmation from the company or further investigation, they could be counterfeit or unauthorized products.
Nigeria intercepts large cannabis shipments more frequently
The discovery fits into a series of major drug seizures in Lagos. In May, for example, Customs and the NDLEA intercepted over 4.173 kilos of cannabis indica at the same Tin Can Island Port. That shipment originated from Canada.
Large international cannabis shipments were intercepted again in June. The NDLEA states that it is cooperating with foreign law enforcement agencies and Nigerian customs to track international smuggling routes.

The distinctive Cookies packaging draws extra attention to the case, but as long as the origin has not been confirmed, caution is needed regarding the conclusion that these are indeed products from the well-known American brand.
