Snoop Dogg announced yesterday that he would quit smoking cannabis. He does this with a statement on Instagram. He said: “After much thought and discussions with my family, I have decided to quit smoking. Please respect my privacy at this time.”

Followers were divided over the news, with some in disbelief and joking. Ro Marley, son of iconic reggae singer Bob Marley, said: “No more BBQ at Uncle's… the grill is off this season.” It is currently unclear whether the hip-hop artist's promise is real or if the statement is part of an extensive marketing campaign for his cannabis company Leafs By Snoop.
