Israel gives green light for the export of medical cannabis

Israeli cannabis producers are allowed to export products after obtaining a license from the Ministry of Health. The Israeli government has given final approval for the export of locally grown medicinal cannabis products.

Outgoing Economy Minister Eli Cohen signed an export order on Wednesday more than a year after the initial initial approval. "This is an important step for exporters and the Israeli industry, which will promote both the expansion of export opportunities for the industry and employment for new workers," Cohen said in a statement from The Jerusalem Post.

Cannabis producers wishing to export their products still need to obtain a permit from the Ministry of Health to take advantage of the free export order that will take effect within 30 days. Israel has allowed the local trade in cannabis for medical purposes, while recreational use remains illegal.
