Uber Eats customers in Toronto can now order cannabis thanks to a new partnership with Leafly. According to Leafly, it will be the first time marijuana delivery will be available through a major third-party delivery platform such as Uber.

Toronto residents 19 and older can order in the app. Deliveries are made by the cannabis retailer's staff rather than an independent driver. Those who deliver the order will verify the age of the customer.

They start with three retailers: Hidden Leaf Cannabis, Minerva Cannabis and Shivaa's Rose. Uber previously worked with a retailer in Ontario, but then customers had to pick up their order themselves.

Legal weed at home

Lola Kassim, CEO of Uber Eats Canada: “We're working with industry leaders like Leafly to help retailers bring safe, convenient options to people in Toronto. This will allow customers to purchase legal weed for home delivery, which will help fight the illegal market.”

Leafly CEO Yoko Miyashita said: “Leafly has been empowering the cannabis market in Canada for over four years and we support over 200 cannabis retailers in the GTA. We are excited to partner with Uber Eats to help licensed retailers bring safe, legal weed to people in the city.”

Hidden Leaf owners Marissa and Dale Taylor said, “We are a small business and this partnership is a great way for us to expand our reach and grow our business across the city.”
