Education is essential, especially with hemp oil and CBD for pets.

Education is essential if you want to market hemp oil and CBD for pets.

Educating pet owners about the endocannabinoid system and its benefits is critical in bringing new hemp oil nutritional products to the market, said Gil Laureiro, CEO and co-founder of SilverLeaf Global.

Education is the critical step in making hemp-based products available to consumers.

As CEO and Co-Founder of SilverLeaf Global, Gil Laureiro's career is deeply rooted in identifying innovative products. His work also ensures that they are all certified safe and effective before introducing the product to the market. Laureiro has been directly involved in guiding many products through the FDA approval process in America.

A great advocate of scientific, research-backed health benefits, Laureiro has immersed himself in hemp-based solutions.

“What many people don't realize is that the endocannabinoid system of all mammals - vertebrates and invertebrates - works the same,” said Laureiro.

“The goal is to develop safe and verifiable products for ourselves and our furry friends that stimulate our cells to function optimally, also known as 'cellular optimization',” says Laureiro. “We achieve cellular optimization through cellular supplementation and thereby minimize cellular disruption. In other words, products should be designed to optimize cellular activity by minimizing the deficiencies of endocannabinoids. †

While many CBD manufacturers have product lines for pets, Laureiro and his partners started their product line from scratch, designing and formulating hemp-based products intended to promote better health and lifestyles for our four-legged friends.

Gil Laureiro: My co-founders and I have spent years developing healthcare solutions that address both the human and pet medical market. We have expanded our business strategy to use hemp-based products for their ability to be non-invasive and contribute significantly to cellular optimization. Our hemp products initiative is directly influenced by our business development experience and expertise in non-invasive cellular regenerative medical devices introduced by the FDA to healthcare.

Both non-invasive cellular regenerative medical devices and hemp-based products share similarities in providing diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for both the veterinary and human medicine markets and for health optimization. Like humans, animals, as scientifically proven, contain an endocannabinoid system and show similar symptoms when the endocannabinoid system is deficient.

How does an animal's endocannabinoid system work?

Both humans and animals have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) made up of cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoid molecules and their metabolic enzymes. Together they form a crucial molecular system that the body uses to maintain homeostasis.

The endocannabinoid system is recognized as an important modulation system that directly affects the function of the brain, endocrine and immune tissues. Cannabidiol hemp oil works through cannabinoid receptors located on cells throughout an animal's body, which address deficiencies in the endocannabinoid system.

Cannabinoids affect the pet's body because they contain receptors made to bind to specific cannabinoid molecules.

How is the animal endocannabinoid system different from humans? And how are they the same?

The human and animal endocannabinoid system is very similar in terms of intended function and symptoms experienced in deficiency. Hemp oil supplement health benefits comparable to animals and much the same to humans.

People often don't know if they use full-spectrum or broad-spectrum hemp oil. Does this matter to animals?

Full Spectrum hemp oils by definition contain small amounts of THC and when the hemp is processed, the THC present is not filtered out. Broad Spectrum processes hemp one step further to ensure that THC is removed and therefore no traces of THC are detectable in testing. Science tells us that all traceable amounts of THC ingested are cumulative and can be harmful, so pets should only use broad-spectrum hemp oil.

To ensure that you purchase an undetectable THC product, the product must be accompanied by an Analysis Certificate (COA) and the COA must be provided by a certifiable independent testing laboratory.

We know that dosing can sometimes be a matter of trial for humans. What about the dosage of hemp oil for animals?

The dosage for pets is calculated by weight and the dosage should be clearly marked on the product label. Unlike in humans, observing your pet during the first few weeks of dosing is important to determine if the dose applied is working, or whether the dose should be increased or decreased slightly.

Do vets recommend hemp oil for pets?

The recommendations for hemp oil by veterinarians vary widely by country. Having said this, there are an increasing number of vet practices that not only recommend hemp oil for pets, but also offer the product in their practice. Many studies are being conducted because of the empirical evidence already obtained that hemp oil supplementation may have a number of animal health benefits. The most common are the reduction of inflammation and pain reduction.

The more these studies are made public or are published, the more vets may recommend hemp oil supplementation.
